What is
Body Mass Index?

BMI is a measure of the body fat. It is calculated using a formula that considers your height and weight. Both adult males and females can use the calculation as a reference to help assess their health.

The following are the generally accepted categories of BMI

Underweight less than 18.5
Normal 18.5 to 24.9
Overweight 25 to 29.9
Obese greater than 30

Warning: BMI may be skewed higher in athletes who have an overly muscular build; or lower in older persons and others who have lost muscle mass.
