What is Pilates?
Pilates is a system of movement based exercise named for and created by Joseph Pilates near the turn of the 20th century.
Pilates was originally termed by its creator as "Contrology", the constraint and control of the body by the mind. This
mind-body connection came from a series of comprehensive exercises. These exercises are done on mats or using specially
designed equipment. First embraced by the New York dance community, Pilates has become an international phenomenon.
Is Pilates for Me?

feel accomplished after a Pilates class. Your instructor will guide you through the movements offering individual modifications

Hilary is a Stott Pilates instructor. Developed by former professional dancer
Moira Merrithew, with input from sports medicine professionals, Stott Pilates is a
contemporary, anatomically-based approach to Joseph Pilates' original exercise method. Its exercises safely deliver optimal strength,
flexibility and endurance, without adding bulk. This stress-relieving method can be performed on a mat or using dedicated
Stott Pilates equipment.
Hilary is also a PilatesFit instructor. This program was created by Master Trainer, Rose Zahn,
owner and instructor of Healthy Habits, Fitness and Yoga Studio, in Sacramento, California.
PilatesFit is a user-friendly, pilates-based mat workout that promotes strength, flexibility, balance, and body
awareness. Learn the skills to execute a variety of safe and effective movements.
